An airsoft gun is a detailed replica of real firearm that is used for recreational use. These guns shoot non-metallic pellets at a rate of 100 to 600 feet, by compressed gas or a spring propelled piston. Airsoft guns come in variety of models, like airsoft rifles, airsoft pistols, electric rifles, spring airsoft guns, gas airsoft guns, airsoft sniper rifles.

Airsoft rifles and guns all have magazines that hold their pellets; there are different types like, low cap, mid cap, real cap and high cap. The origin of airsoft guns originated in Japan in the 1980’s because guns were not allowed for civilians to have so the idea of airsoft rifles came into play, this way the civilians could still have weapons but they were not as deadly as the real weapons.

The user of these type of guns have to be aware that they do look very much like the real thing, therefore safety and full disclosure of this type of weapon is necessary. Many of these types of guns are banned for use in certain countries and local areas because they do look so much like the real thing. Anyone using these weapons need to wear the proper eye protection and gear to ensure safety. The pellets or bb’s are designed to not penetrate the skin, but there are some pellets out there that are specially made to make more of an impact on the body, these pellets are not legally allowed in the states.

Many of the airsoft guns are used solely for recreation, but some military and police organizations are using them for training purposes, to train their new cadets. The Airsoft gun is very similar to the air gun and the paintball devices that are used for sport and gaming. All of these devices must be handled with proper care and maintenance.
